Yes, it's that most nerdy of made-up holidays. It's May the 4th! I'm happy to let my geek flag fly even higher and prouder than usual. To celebrate, I will be reading William Shakespeare's Star Wars, "Verily A New Hope" and "The Empire Striketh Back." Yes, the Star Wars films are being written in iambic pentameter. And it's exactly what you'd imagine.
All languages are inscribed, including Chewbacca's and R2D2's, meaning there is dialog consisting only of growls, beeps, and Huttese. For those wondering, Yoda speaks in haiku format. Asides have been written for some unintelligible beings such as the wampa, the exogorth, and R2. Oh, and R2 is in fact the puppet-master and he knows it. It's a beautiful blend of brilliance and lunacy, and I strongly recommend these books to anyone who enjoys goofy reads.
And, of course, May the 4th be with you all! Or the Schwartz if that's more your speed. And if you comment with the reference I'm hoping for, you get extra brownie points.
